Mega Evolution 30th Celebration chase cards & key targets

Mew leads 30th Celebration at $6000.27, with Mew ($3738.75) and Mew ($1702.50) behind it. The top three alone are 81% of the estimated master-set cost — plan these purchases first and the rest of the set follows on a normal budget.

Acquisition Strategy

  • • Monitor price trends - chase cards often fluctuate based on tournament results and influencer coverage
  • • Consider condition flexibility - a LP/MP copy can save 30-50% on vintage cards
  • • Check multiple marketplaces - prices vary significantly between TCGPlayer, eBay, and local stores
  • • Buy during market dips - major releases and reprints often cause temporary price drops

Card groups within Mega Evolution 30th Celebration that collectors track as their own completion target.

The 30 Pikachu · 30 cards

Officially confirmed

Thirty Pikachu rare cards appear within the numbered expansion. Every booster guarantees one random Pikachu, so this is a useful collecting target but not an extra 30 cards on top of the main-set count.

Classic Collection · 30 cards

Officially confirmed

Thirty classic cards return with the anniversary logo, each keeping the collector number and rarity symbol of the set it came from, so Base Set Charizard still reads 4/102. They can be pulled from ordinary boosters, and the separate Classic Collection booster in each Ultra-Premium Collection holds three. TCGplayer lists the Classic Collection as its own product group, and Cardrake gives it its own checklist and prices.

Futuristic rares

Officially confirmed

The new Futuristic rare treatment debuts with Mewtwo ex 157/128 and Mew ex 158/128 by YOSHIROTTEN. Two is the full count: they are the last two numbers in the set.

RGB Mew · 3 cards

Officially confirmed

Three Mew cards by YOSHIROTTEN, numbered R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB instead of out of 128, in the colours of Pokemon Red, Green and Blue. They are missing from the Elite Trainer Box checklist booklet and are far rarer than the Futuristic rares, so plan on buying them as singles or leaving them out of scope.

  • 1.Mew R/RGB
  • 2.Mew G/RGB
  • 3.Mew B/RGB

Basic Energy 009 to 016 · 8 cards

Officially confirmed

Eight foil Basic Energy cards, one in every booster, numbered 009 to 016 in their own sequence below the set. YOSHIROTTEN illustrated them in the style of the Futuristic rares, and the Elite Trainer Box adds a stack of sixteen. They are cheap, but a master set that counts them needs a page.

About this set

30th Celebration released on September 16, 2026, the first Pokemon TCG expansion to launch worldwide on the same day. Every booster contains five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy, and one of 30 Pikachu rare cards, plus a code card for Pokemon TCG Live. There are no uncommons and no reverse holos: the numbered set is built from commons, rares, double rares and the 30 Pikachu rares, and every one of them is foil.

The secret rare range is confirmed. Eighteen illustration rares run from 129/128 to 146/128, ten special illustration rares from 147/128 to 156/128, and the two Futuristic rares, Mewtwo ex and Mew ex by YOSHIROTTEN, close the set at 157/128 and 158/128. The sixth card in every pack is one of eight foil Basic Energy numbered 009 to 016, also illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN in the same style as the Futuristic rares. Classic cards from the game's history return in ordinary boosters as the Classic Collection, which has its own page.

It also opens better than any recent set. TCGplayer's count of more than 3,000 English packs found special illustration rares about four times as often as in Pitch Black, and illustration rares nearly twice as often, and TCGplayer called it the best pack-opening experience since at least Paldean Fates. The pull rate section below has the numbers. The one card that stays out of reach is Mew in three colours, R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB, a secret tier numbered outside the set that did not turn up once in that sample.

Where 30th Celebration fits in the era

Celebrations in 2021 used a 25-card numbered set and a separate 25-card Classic Collection. The 30th set keeps the split between new cards, classic reprints, and product promos, but its pre-secret numbering runs to 128 and its Classic Collection has 30.

Collecting challenges

Track the numbered set, Classic Collection, and product promos separately. The 30 Pikachu are part of the numbered set, so do not count them twice, and the eight Basic Energy sit in their own numbering below the set.

Inside the numbered set, two groups set the pace. The Pikachu run is a duplicate problem rather than an odds problem: every pack hands you one, and the last few you need are the ones you keep not pulling. The community's favourite is OKACHEKE's Pikachu at 036/128, marked 14/30, with its face squashed between the balusters, and it will cost more than the others for a while. The three legendary bird illustration rares, Moltres 130/128, Articuno 132/128 and Zapdos 133/128, form one connected artwork and are the illustration rares most collectors will refuse to leave incomplete.

Why you can't find 30th Celebration in stores

Two weeks after release, 30th Celebration is still hard to find at retail price. Here is why, what lands next, and how to tell a fair price from a markup. Checked .

Only the first wave is out
September 16 brought the Elite Trainer Boxes, ex Boxes and small collections. The Booster Bundle, Mini Tins, Battle Decks, Ultra-Premium Collections and Binder Collection are still to come, so the cheapest ways to buy packs have not reached stores yet.
Anniversary demand on a worldwide launch day
Every market launched on the same day for the first time, so there was no early region to absorb demand. First-wave stock sold out within minutes online and in stores, with overnight queues in the UK.
Resellers cleared shelves where limits were loose
Target held purchase limits of one per product, but many stores did not enforce any. US press reported fights and an arrest during restocks in the first week.
Pokemon Center orders slipped
Pokemon Center cancelled orders it flagged as bots before release, and some genuine buyers lost theirs too. Pokemon Center UK moved Elite Trainer Box deliveries to mid or late November on launch day.
No booster box to fall back on
The English release has no booster display, so there is no bulk product for local game stores to open or sell by the pack the way they do with a normal set.

Where stock is turning up

  • Pokemon Center. Sells at retail price when stock is up. Drops sell out fast and orders can be cancelled in bot sweeps, so check the order status after buying.
  • Target and Best Buy. Restock in small drops with purchase limits. In-store stock usually goes out at opening, so ask staff which day the truck arrives.
  • Walmart. Sells the most wanted products through a collectibles drawing. Entries cannot be cancelled and items cannot be returned, so only enter for what you would keep.
  • Local game stores. Often run preorder lists for the later waves and sell at or near retail to regulars. Ask about the October 2 Booster Bundle before it lands.
  • Europe. Stock is spread across many smaller shops rather than a few chains. Cross-border shipping inside the EU usually takes a few days, and prices a little above the local retail range are normal while supply is short.
  • Resale. Check the markup table above before paying resale. The cards themselves are cheap as singles, so a sealed product bought far above retail rarely pays for itself in pulls.

When to buy

Weeks 1–4
Launch

Singles panic-priced. Sealed carries 30–50% premium. Wait if you can.

Months 2–4
Stabilization

Best window for singles. Chase cards find their floor.

Months 4–12
Reprint watch

Bulk dips 15–20% on reprint news. Chase cards stay steady.

Year 2+
Long term

Sealed and top chase cards begin appreciation cycle.

Collecting strategy

Most cards in this set are worth around $0.3 as singles. Opening packs is the fun way to build your base of commons and uncommons with a chance at lucky pulls — but chase cards are statistically unlikely from sealed product. For most master set collectors, the smart approach is packs for bulk, singles for the rest.

Community insights

From collector discussions, forums, and social media.

What collectors are saying

  • The pull rates are the headline. Openers are reporting a hit in more than half their packs on top of the guaranteed Pikachu, and TCGplayer's count and two independent counts of about 4,000 and 6,500 packs all landed in the same place: the friendliest odds of the Mega Evolution era.
  • Most complaints are about getting product at all. First-wave stock sold out within minutes online and in stores, there were overnight queues in the UK, and US press reported fights and an arrest at Target and Best Buy restocks in the first week.
  • Plenty of collectors are openly enjoying the resellers' bad week. Singles fell so fast after release that flipping sealed product for chase cards stopped paying, and posts about scalpers stuck with ETB · Elite Trainer BoxA retail box with booster packs (usually nine), a promo card, sleeves, dice and Energy cards. bought at resale prices did the rounds.
  • The three RGB Mew cards caught almost everyone off guard. They first surfaced from early stock in July, appeared in a Pokemon TCG Live data update the day before release, and are missing from the checklist booklet in the Elite Trainer Box.

Tips from the community

  • Treat the numbered set, Classic Collection, and Black Star Promos as separate binder decisions. The 30 Pikachu sit inside the numbered set, so do not add them to the card count twice.
  • Buy chase singles now rather than packs. Supply is deep because the odds are generous, and the markup on sealed product is far larger than on the cards inside it.
  • The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box is the efficient Nidorina choice for a promo collector because it includes both the regular promo and the Pokemon Center-stamped version.
  • Buy singles for known gaps. Opening 30 packs guarantees 30 Pikachu pulls, but it does not guarantee 30 different Pikachu.
  • The three legendary bird illustration rares, Moltres 130/128, Articuno 132/128 and Zapdos 133/128, connect into one artwork. Buy them as a trio or plan three adjacent pockets; a single bird on its own is the card people trade away.
  • If you want packs at retail, wait for the Booster Bundle on October 2. It has the lowest retail price per pack of any product, with no promo pushing up its resale price.

Market insights

  • Generous pull rates flattened the singles market. The Mew ex Futuristic rare fell by more than 90 percent between the first presale week and the week after release, and most special illustration rares now trade at a fraction of what presale buyers paid.
  • Sealed product carries the premium. Elite Trainer Boxes and loose packs trade at roughly three times US retail while the same cards are cheap as singles, so paying resale for sealed product to chase a specific card is the worst trade in the set right now.
  • English buyers price the special illustration rares above the matching Futuristic rares. A worldwide price comparison found Japanese collectors doing the reverse, which is worth knowing before importing either version.
  • The Classic Collection reprints are the cards still climbing, led by Crystal Lugia and Base Set Charizard. Their prices live on the Classic Collection page, not in this set's chase list.

Watch out for

  • There is no English booster box. A listing sold as a 30th Celebration booster box is either the Japanese 20-pack box, which holds six-card Japanese packs with different card numbers, or a case of Booster Bundles or Elite Trainer Boxes. Check the language and the pack count before paying.
  • There are no reverse holo variants in 30th Celebration. A listing that offers a 30th Celebration reverse holo is describing a different set or a misread foil pattern.
  • RGB Mew prices are high enough to attract fakes and misleading photos. Buy raw copies only from sellers who show the card number clearly, and prefer graded copies or buyer-protected marketplaces for anything at that level.

When did Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration release?▾

September 16, 2026, as the first worldwide simultaneous Pokemon TCG launch. Only the first wave of products came out that day. The Booster Bundle and Mini Tins follow on October 2, the Battle Decks on October 30, the Ultra-Premium Collections and other premium boxes on November 6, and the Binder Collection and ex Tins on December 4.

Why can't I find 30th Celebration in stores?▾

Demand for the 30th anniversary set was far above a normal expansion, and only the first wave of products released on September 16. Stock sold out within minutes online and in stores, resellers cleared shelves where limits were not enforced, and Pokemon Center UK pushed Elite Trainer Box orders back to November. More stock arrives with each later product wave, starting with the Booster Bundle and Mini Tins on October 2.

Will 30th Celebration be restocked?▾

Pokemon has not announced a reprint, but four more product waves are scheduled: October 2, October 30, November 6 and December 4. Each one puts new booster packs on shelves. Retailers also restock the September products in smaller drops, which sell out fast, so stock alerts and store lotteries work better than walking in.

Is there a 30th Celebration booster box?▾

Not in English. The English release has no booster display box, and the largest product is the Ultra-Premium Collection with 29 packs plus a Classic Collection booster. The Japanese 30th anniversary set does have a 20-pack box, but its packs, card numbers and set size differ from the English set.

What are the RGB Mew cards?▾

Three secret Mew cards illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN and numbered R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB, a nod to Pokemon Red, Green and Blue. They are not in the checklist booklet and sit outside the 158/128 numbering. They are by far the rarest cards in the set: TCGplayer found none in more than 3,000 packs.

What is inside a 30th Celebration booster pack?▾

Each booster contains five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy, and a code card for Pokemon TCG Live. One of the five is one of the 30 Pikachu rare cards, and the Energy is one of eight numbered 009 to 016, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN.

Is every 30th Celebration card foil?▾

Yes. The Pokemon Company says every card in a booster is foil, including the Basic Energy card.

Is a Pikachu guaranteed in every pack?▾

Yes. Every booster contains one of 30 unique Pikachu rare cards, each with a different illustration. The pull is random, so 30 packs do not guarantee a complete 30-card Pikachu run.

Can Classic Collection cards be pulled from ordinary packs?▾

Yes. Classic Collection cards are included in ordinary 30th Celebration booster packs. Each Day or Night Ultra-Premium Collection also includes one separate Classic Collection booster containing three cards.

What comes in the Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections?▾

Each version contains 29 regular 30th Celebration boosters, one three-card Classic Collection booster, and two exclusive promo cards. Day has Pikachu ex and Espeon ex. Night has a different Pikachu ex and Umbreon ex.

Does the Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box have an exclusive card?▾

Yes. It contains the regular full-art Nidorina promo and a second copy with a Pokemon Center logo stamp. It also has 11 booster packs, compared with nine in the standard Elite Trainer Box.

Which products do I need for every English product promo?▾

The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box, both Tech Sticker versions, both ex Box versions, both Battle Decks, the Poster Collection, the Ditto Premium Collection, both Figure Collections, and both Ultra-Premium Collections. The Knock Out Collection and 2-Pack Blister are not needed, because their Eevee, numbered 116 out of 128, belongs to the expansion rather than the Black Star Promo set.

Does 30th Celebration have reverse holos?▾

No. Every card in a booster is already foil and the set has no reverse holo or parallel tier, so the numbered checklist is the whole binder. TCGplayer's collector's guide states it plainly: there are no reverse holo variants of any card in the set.

What are Futuristic rare cards?▾

Futuristic rare is a new rarity debuting in 30th Celebration, marked with a turquoise star. Mewtwo ex 157/128 and Mew ex 158/128, both illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, are the only two, and they close the set.

Why do some 30th Celebration cards show no price yet?▾

TCGplayer prices come from actual listings and sales. A card that has not sold since release shows no market price until it does, which happens most often with the rarest cards.

Can I track 30th Celebration in Cardrake?▾

Yes. From release day the binder planner holds the full numbered checklist with prices, and collection tracking works the same way as for any other set. The Classic Collection has its own page and its own binder.

How is 30th Celebration different from Celebrations?▾

Celebrations had a 25-card numbered set and a 25-card Classic Collection. 30th Celebration starts with 128 numbered cards, has a 30-card Classic Collection, guarantees one of 30 Pikachu in every pack, and introduces Futuristic rare cards.

What are the 30th Celebration pull rates?▾

Pokemon does not publish pull rates. The pull rate section on this page uses TCGplayer's count of more than 3,000 English booster packs, published September 24, 2026, and two independent counts of about 4,000 and 6,500 packs landed close to it. The Classic Collection rate is on the Classic Collection page, because those cards are tracked there. RGB Mew did not appear in TCGplayer's sample at all, so no rate is shown for it.

Which cards are the 30 Pikachu?▾

Numbers 023 to 052 in the numbered set, each illustrated by a different artist, with one random Pikachu in every booster. The 30 Pikachu panel on this page lists every slot and the illustrators confirmed so far.

Are the English and Japanese 30th Celebration sets numbered the same?▾

No. The English numbered set and the Japanese M6a set use different base denominators, so the same card carries a different number in each language. Classic Collection reprints keep the numbering of the set they originally came from, with a 30th anniversary stamp.

Which of the 30 Pikachu is the chase?▾

OKACHEKE's Pikachu at 036/128, marked 14/30, with its face squashed between the balusters. It was the card collectors picked out during the preview season and it opened with the highest price of the thirty. The Pikachu ex special illustration rares at 149/128 and 150/128 are the other Pikachu cards that carry a premium.
