The storyThe Unova Water starter gets the full-art treatment in White Flare
Samurott is the final form of Oshawott, the Water starter from Pokemon Black and White back in 2010. For a lot of collectors that line is pure nostalgia, so seeing it as an Illustration Rare in a set built entirely around Unova hits the right note.
“Illustration Rare of Samurott, the Unova Water starter final evolution from Black and White”
White Flare did something the TCG had not done before. Nearly every Pokemon from the Unova region got an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare across the Black Bolt and White Flare pair. That makes the set a project for anyone building the master set. Samurott 107 is one piece of that wall, and it's one of the more recognizable faces in it.
DOM handled this one. The card lands in the middle of the pack on price and rarity, but it carries weight with the people who grew up on the Unova starters and want the whole line represented on art cards.
By the numbersMarket analysis
Samurott 107 sits in the lower band of White Flare singles. It's an affordable Illustration Rare, well off the set's headline cards. Raw copies are easy to find, and the price reflects how deep the set's IR pool is.
It moves with the set. White Flare is recent, so prices have settled from launch hype into a stable, affordable range. Samurott shows up among the more actively traded copies in its name, but that's volume, not a price spike.
Treat this as a collector card, not a flip. The supply is broad and the price is low, so upside is limited. The reason to own it is the art and the starter-line connection. If you like it, buy a clean copy and enjoy it.
Modest. At this price the gap between a raw copy and a PSA 10 is small, and grading fees can swallow most of it. Graded copies exist in PSA 9 and 10, but the math only works if you already have a near-perfect card or want the slab for display.
White Flare follows the Scarlet and Violet pull-rate pattern. Any Illustration Rare turns up about once every 12 packs. The catch is that this is any IR, and White Flare gave nearly every Unova Pokemon an IR or SIR, so the pool is enormous. Hitting this exact Samurott runs far longer than the headline number, easily into the hundreds of packs. For comparison, any Double Rare is about 1 in 5 packs, any Ultra Rare about 1 in 15, any Special Illustration Rare around 1 in 90, and Hyper Rares roughly 1 in 300 to 700. If you specifically want Samurott 107, the single market is faster and cheaper than ripping packs.
Against the set's Special Illustration Rares and the white Black Bolt and White Flare Rare cards, this IR is a common sight and an easy buy. It sits mid-table in a set that is unusually deep on art cards.
ArtworkWhy the art matters

DOM is a TCG illustrator with a steady run of work across recent Scarlet and Violet sets, including character-tied and Pokemon art. The name shows up regularly on modern release checklists.
Samurott stands in a battle pose, the sword-armor of the Pokemon front and center. The holo lays down swirling water across the frame, and the full-art treatment lets the scene run edge to edge so the foil pattern catches light.
Illustration Rare full art, numbered 107/086, the over-the-set-size numbering that marks it as a special print beyond the 086 main set. It's a Stage 2 Water-type with 160 HP, evolving from Dewott.
A beloved starter, a clean action scene, and that swirling water holo. It's a card that looks better in hand than the price suggests, which is part of why starter-line collectors keep reaching for it.
BackgroundAbout Samurott
Samurott debuted in Pokemon Black and White in 2010 as the final evolution of Oshawott, the Water-type starter for the Unova region. The sword built into its armor made it one of the more striking starter finals, and it stuck in players' memories. A Hisuian Samurott later showed up in Legends Arceus, which kept the name in rotation, but this card is the classic Unova form.
- ›Final evolution of a regional starter, which always carries collector weight
- ›Strong nostalgia for the Black and White generation
- ›Distinctive sword-and-armor design that reads well in card art
- ›Part of a set built entirely around Unova
- ›Pokemon Black and White as the Water starter line (Oshawott to Dewott to Samurott)
- ›Featured across White Flare in both standard and Illustration Rare prints
Own it wellCollector guide
Full-art IRs show edge whitening and surface scratches easily because the print runs to the border. Check the edges and the holo surface under angled light before buying or grading.
Grading is optional here. The graded premium is modest at this price point, so only send a copy that already looks gem mint and only if you want the slab. Centering is the usual fail point on full arts, so inspect it first. Read the grading guide →
Sleeve it in a penny sleeve inside a toploader or one-touch, and keep it out of direct light to protect the holo. For master set builders, a binder page works fine since the value is low and handling risk is the bigger concern. See the storage guide →
Buy the single. Supply is broad, prices are friendly, and you'll spend far less than chasing it through packs. Look for clean centering and sharp corners, since those are what hold up over time on this print. See the singles buying guide →
Modern IRs are far less faked than vintage chases, but still buy from reputable sellers. Check the holo pattern, the texture of the full-art surface, and the crispness of the 107/086 numbering. Anything that looks flat or printed on plain cardstock is a red flag.

Collectors like this one. The starter connection and the clean DOM art make it a popular pickup for Unova fans and master set builders, even though nobody calls it a marquee chase. It's the kind of card people are happy to own rather than one they obsess over.
Buzz around White Flare leaned heavily on the Special Illustration Rares and the white Black Bolt and White Flare Rare cards. Samurott 107 rides along as part of the broader love for the set's all-Unova art lineup rather than as a standalone headline.
